Road Trip to Utah

On our first full day in Utah we decided we wanted to check out the Great Salt Lake, neither one of us has ever been there before, so I found this place called Antelope Island. They have all types of animals living on the island, we saw Bison, Antelope, Fox, Coyote, Deer and all sorts of interesting birds. Definitely something I think everyone needs to check out if they are going to be in the area!!

On our way to Ed and Jamies we decided to stop at Temple Square, AJ has never been there, and it's been a long time since I have stopped and checked it out. Can't believe how much Salt Lake has grown!!

The first night we stayed with Ed and his family I wanted to go out to the Mayan Restaurant. About every 40 minutes, they have a show, and this is where one of the characters is getting ready to dive into the water, it's pretty interesting!! can't remember if the food was any good, just remember running up there with the kids to watch the show!

AJ and I stayed a couple nights with Ed and his family. Rohnin is getting so big!! he loves Sponge Bob and that's all we heard about while we were there. Rohnin has a special little dance that goes with the theme song! Wish I would've recorded him dancing.

The whole reason we went to Utah, was to watch the supercross race. It was alot of fun, we went with Ed and his kids, BrieOcea, Lucas, and Traedon. I think Lucas had the most fun out of all four of them :) As you can see, that is James Stewart finishing up the race as the winner!

Bridal Veil Falls Provo Canyon!! I wanted to show AJ the mountains in Provo, however we picked a day where it snowed big quarter size snow flakes!!! and this is what we saw....still beautiful!

Couldn't see the Y on the mountain, so we took a picture of this one :)

Shoshone Falls absolutely breath taking!! it only flows real strong during the spring run off. We stopped in Twin Falls on our way home to check out the falls.

Busy Weekend

Love the sunshine, get's the energy flowing again! and for some reason I feel like doing more.....so we did more this weekend!! Started on Friday, where we drove by houses for sale, went out to dinner, have not done that in a long time! and bought some new movies, Slumdog Millionaire, Quantam Solace (James Bond), and The Breakfast Club...love that movie!! Saturday came, and we took the dogs to the Owyhees and wore them out, poor Scooby Doo hasn't been the same since. That is a picture of him today!!!!

Later Saturday evening, we went to AJ's mom's house to celebrate his birthday with his family. Meadow loved helping her Uncle open presents, it was so cute!!! I think I had more fun watching her!!

And for some reason we have these two ducks hanging out in our back yard, they are so much fun to watch. However our lab/healer mix, (Lacy) thinks she needs to try and catch them. But it's hard to get them going, I have to let Scooby Doo outside first, and he just sniffs at them, and they eventually walk away, I then let Lacy out, and she takes off after the ducks, and there they go flying away! :( You would think they wouldn't come back, but they have :) So much fun to watch!

So all in all it was a nice weekend, Spring is finally here, and the flowers are starting to bloom. Finally washed and vacuumed out the car, even mowed the lawn today! Next weekend we will be down in Utah to do some touristy things, visit with my brother and his family, and go to the Supercross races!! (dirt bike races) so much fun!!

First of Many Projects

Ok so this is my first project with the circular knitting needles. I should start by telling you that I worked a 12 hour shift yesterday, we were so slow, and I mean SLOW!!! we had one patient check in at 9am, then a second at 10am, and the third didn't show up until 4:30pm!!! on top of that we were training a float, and we had a PA student with us. So I got bored, finished the dishcloth I was working on, and decided to go to Walmart and buy some baby yarn, while I was there I found some #9 circular knitting needles (yes I have bambo ones also, but they are size 5, too small for me right now). The nurse I was working with taught me a pretty cool little trick with these needles, which let me tell you saved my sanity!! I probably would've thrown the needles in the garbage if she had not saved me. As you know when the needles come out of the package the center is plastic and likes to coil up, so she said if I heat some water in a coffee cup, and then place the plastic center of the needles in the hot water, you can straighten up the plastic in between the needles!! So I left them in there for a few minutes (of course the needles are medal so those were a little warm when I pulled them out) however I was able to straighten it right out, it still curls up some, but not much!!! I get so excited when I learn something new. It is different knitting with the needles, but now I can truly understand all the possiblities that come with circular needles, can't wait!!!! my next goal is to learn how to knit with 3 or 4 double pointed needles at the same time. Need to get comfortable with this first, before I go down that road!!!
I found the cutest baby yarn at Walmart, seafoam green and blue, not sure if I can finish this blanket in a month in time for my sister or SIL's baby, or maybe I'll just keep it for myself, in the event I ever get pregnant :)
I'll try and keep you posted.

Trying to get ahead of the game...............

I've decided that this year I am going to be ahead of the game as far as christmas goes, ok well I'm trying to stay ahead of the game. My obsession with knitting dishclothes may have faded for a couple months, but lo and behold it has returned. A knitting friend of mine gave me a book that has patterns in it, a simple knit, pearl patterns that give you a nice design in the middle. I thought I would post the pictures, and it looks like I got a little carried away with loading two of the same dishclothes..oops still trying to figure this whole blogging thing out.......anywho. The top dishcloth (birdhouse, with a bird flying in) I used a 7 gauge to knit it with. Apparently I knit a little loose, the pattern was showing up, but not as well as I would have liked so I switched over and started using 5's instead.....
this pattern is Michigan Cherry's, yes I know I used black so it is hard to see.......

the pictures didn't turn out as nice as I was hoping they would...this pattern is Topiary with Heart

hmmm figured you needed to see this one again :)

This is a rose, it was my first one I made with the 5's

I finally broke down and bought a pair of knitting needles that connect (guess you call those circular knitting needles :) ) eventually I will be the Queen of knitting, just give me another 10 years :) Now I just need someone to show me how to use these babies :) as you see they are still in the package, haven't opened them yet. Will probably take them with me to work and see if one of the girls can show me what to do with them.............
